Ramp pricing starts with the class of ramp, because a threshold insert and a modular aluminum ramp are different products. The classes are priced separately
A ramp quote depends on the class of product. A threshold insert solves a small lip at a doorway. A portable folding ramp bridges a step or two and moves. A modular aluminum ramp is a designed, installed structure for a larger rise. A commercial ramp is built to another set of requirements. The slope standard sets the length
The Access Board's ADA standards state the design rule plainly: ramp runs shall have a running slope not steeper than 1:12. At that slope, one foot of ramp serves each inch of rise, before landings, turns and the level clearance a door needs. A steeper exception exists for some existing sites, but it is a design standard for accessibility, not advice that a steeper home ramp suits a particular person or mobility device.
Work the length out with the entry in front of you: measure the rise from driveway to threshold, and ask the installer to show the layout that meets the slope, the landings and any railing requirements in your area. The length the design requires, not the class alone, drives where a quote lands inside or beyond a published range.
What a complete ramp quote names
Ask each dealer to put these in writing: the class and material, the length and layout against your measured rise, the number and size of landings, railing on both sides where required, the footing or mounting method, permits and inspection, and who assembles and installs it. Site preparation and any concrete or landing work belong in the quote or explicitly outside it.

Do these ranges include installation?
No. The dealer publishes them as estimated equipment ranges for a general idea and offers an in-home consultation for an exact price. Installation labor, permits, site preparation and landing work stay unconfirmed until a proposal states them.
How long does my ramp need to be?
The Access Board standard sets a maximum running slope of 1:12 for ramp runs, so at that slope each inch of rise needs one foot of run. Turns, landings and door clearances add length. Confirm the design against your entry with the installer.
Is a portable ramp an alternative to a built one?
Sometimes, for a rise it is rated for and a path it can rest on safely. A portable ramp is equipment you place and secure yourself; a modular ramp is a designed installation. Ask which class fits the entry before comparing their prices.
